Students from hosts Sant Isher Singh Ji Memorial Public School (SISJMPS), Karamsar Rara Sahib, proved their mettle by finishing among position holders in the Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex (East Zone) Athletics Meet held yesterday.

Students from 20 schools participated in the two-day meet. Various track and field events were a part of the competition.

Nimanjot Kaur, Simranpreet Kaur, Yuvraj Singh, Pawanpreet Kaur and Lovleen Kaur from the school won various medals in different events in the U-19 category.

Nimanjot Kaur clinched a gold medal in shot-put, while Simranpreet won 100-metre sprint and Yuvraj Singh bagged top honours in discus throw. Likewise, Pawanpreet Kaur came out triumphant in the 1,500-metre race and Loveleen Kaur romped home victorious in the 3,000-metre race.

Patiala SP Amarjit Singh Ghuman, Payal DSP Rachhpal Singh Dhindsa, and school management committee members Balwant Singh, Gurnam Singh and Parmiderjit Singh were present at the prize distribution function.

Principal Dheeraj Kumar Thapliyal congratulated the winners, thanked the guests and the school staff.
