LUDHIANA: Each year Independence Day is celebrated to pay tributes to the spirit of freedom fighters who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle.

Each year Independence Day is celebrated to pay tributes to the spirit of freedom fighters who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. The 73rd Independence Day celebrations were observed in schools across the city with patriotic flavor and students enthusiastically participating in various events.

Manav Rachna International

Manav Rachna International school celebrated Independence week with zeal and enthusiasm. The celebrations were observed to educate and sensitise students of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. Various competitions and activities were conducted across the week such as fancy dress competition, collage-making activity and colouring competition. Principal Anju Dhawan appreciated the students for their performances.

BCM Kindergarten

The campus was decorated with saffron, white and green colours. Students raised slogans of ‘Vande Matram’ and ‘Mera Bharat Mahaan’. They took a pledge to work for the development of the country.

Guys & Dolls Preschool

Guys & Dolls Preschool celebrated Independence Day with great fun and enthusiasm. The campus was decorated with tricolour balloons, flags and kites. Kids came dressed as freedom fighters and national leaders.

Adarsh Public School

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with full patriotism. Yashpal Bangia, general secretary of school, hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by the National Anthem.

Sacred Heart Sr Secondary

Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School saluted the nation on the eve of its 73rd Independence Day. Col Bhupendra Singh Pundir, commanding officer, was the chief guest of the occasion. The school also unveiled their magazine, Expressions’2018-19.

Apple Tree Preschool

Apple Tree Preschool, BRS Nagar, celebrated Independence day with great enthusiasm. The school presented a mélange of patriotic activities, which created an atmosphere of national pride on the premises. The campus was decorated with tricolour posters, buntings and balloons. Students came were dressed as freedom fighters.

ABC Magical World Preschool

Girls came dressed in traditional dresses and boys were dressed as soldiers for the celebration. The colourful function started with singing the National Anthem. Kids paid sincere tributes to freedom fighters and soldiers who protected the nation.

Police DAV Public

Toddlers decorated the campus with tricolour balloons, flags and kites and sang patriotic songs. Principal Anu Verma encouraged the efforts of the little ones and told students about the importance of the Independence Day.

Everest Public Sr Sec

The function started with unfurling of the National Flag by Rajinder Sharma, director, Everest Group of Schools. Troops of scout and guide saluted the National Flag. Principal Monica remembered the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation and motivated the students to be in discipline.

Green Land, Dugri

A gamut of activities were held on campus. Students of nursery and kindergarten coloured the national flag. Students of Class I delievered speeches while that of Class II performed solo dance. Rakhi-making competition was organised for students of Class III to V. Class VI to VIII participated in a poem recitation competition and Class IX and XII made posters and cards.

The Lakewood School

Greeting the nation and its freedom fighters on the eve of the 73rd Independence Day, a documentary on ‘Discovery of India’, bearing glimpses of important monuments in the country, national and religious symbols and costumes, folk dances, folk art and festivals, glimpses of technical advancements and industrialisation, freedom fighters, and India’s Nobel laureates was shown.

Sacred Soul, Dugri

The school choir roused patriotic fervour with a rendition of patriotic songs. A fancy dress competition on the theme of freedom fighters was organised for students of kindergarten.

Guru Gobind Singh, Daad

The campus was decorated with tricolour flags and flowers. Principal Manjit Kaur Makkar unfurled the National Flag. The National Anthem was sung, followed by a shower of flowers from the flag. Students held a march past.

DAV, BRS Nagar

The entire campus reverberated with the echoes of ‘Vande Matram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. A colourful cultural programme was also organised. Students presented speeches and recited poems highlighting the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.

Guru Nanak Int’l, Model Town

To commemorate the sacrifices made by freedom fighters, patriotic group songs were sung by students. Students of LKG and UKG made badges of tricolour kites. Students of Class I spoke on Independence Day.

Darshan Academy

The aim of the celebrations was to awaken patriotic feelings in children. Teachers described the importance of freedom.

BVM, Chandigarh Road

The assembly commenced with students sharing facts about India’s freedom followed by spectacular cultural performances. Brimming with enthusiasm, young vocalists invoked a strong sense of patriotism through their poems and songs.

St Bawra, New Lajpat Nagar

Celebrations started with singing of the National Song. Tributes were paid to martyrs, freedom fighters and soldiers with a dance performance on patriotic songs.

DAV, Pakhowal Road

Corridors were decorated with various artefacts to instil the sense of patriotism in children. Students came dressed as freedom fighters and national leaders of India to spread the message of love and peace. Principal Satwant Kaur Bhullar threw light on sacrifices made by martyrs.

Spring Dale Public

Students began the day by singing patriotic songs during the morning assembly. Tiny tots of kindergarten were dressed as national heroes, leaders and freedom fighters. They spread the waves of patriotism through their presentation of different poems, songs and speeches.

BBSB Convent, Sidhwan Bet

Students sang songs and tricolours were seen all over. Students from nursery to Class V participated in various activities. Importance of the day was told to students.

BCM, Chandigarh Raod

The campus vibrated with the festivity with flamboyant hues of the tricolour.A special morning assembly was conducted by students of Class IX and X. They presented enactments, speeches, patriotic songs, choreography and mime, enlightening the contribution of unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle.

GGN Public, Rose Garden

A special assembly was organised, during which teachers and students delivered speeches on the occasion . A skit on the the theme threw light on national integration of the nation. Students gave a short presentation on the history of National Flag and on the importance of national symbols.

GMT, Jalandhar Bypass

Plethora of cultural performances such as patriotic songs, dance performances, group singing and bhangra marked the significance of the day. The National Anthem was also sung by teachers in in sign language.

MGM, Dugri

A gamut of activities were held on campus such as patriotic songs, speeches and poems. The campus was filled with the feeling of pure patriotism. Principal Poonam Sharma addressed students about the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.

Guru Nanak, Model Town Extn

A fancy dress competition for students of Class I and II was organised. Students came dressed as freedom fighters and political leaders. Tiny tots conveyed the important message of patriotism and national spirit. The school was adorned with tricolour balloons and flags.

Bal Bharati Public School

The spirit of freedom and nationalism was well exhibited through a spectrum of patriotic songs, dances and skits. An inter-house patriotic dance competition was also organised. The cultural programme commenced with students reflecting India’s contribution to the world.
