Ludhiana: In the course of its continuous drives against illegal and unlicenced colonies around the city, the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) today conducted a demolition drive in four colonies under the supervision of Estate Officer (Regulatory) Harpreet Singh Sekhon.
The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority team, with men and machines, descended at under-development colonies in Mullanpur, Jhammat and Laadiyan Kalan villages, where illegal structures, boundary walls were pulled down, roads and streets were dug up and developers sternly warned against resuming any type of development works.
Maintaining that relentless drives against unregulated development of colonies would continue, GLADA Chief Administrator Parminder Singh Gill said the field staff of the regulatory wing had carried out a comprehensive survey of the area falling under the jurisdiction of GLADA to identify unlicenced colonies.
“Developers of unauthorised/illegal colonies will not be spared. Not only their internal development works would be demolished, but FIRs would also be lodged with the police for the violation of the provisions of PUDA Act,” he said.
He said as per the directions of the government, GLADA had asked the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited not to sanction any electricity connections, nor allow anyone to have telephone connections in such colonies. In addition, the government, at its own level, had imposed a ban on the registration of sale/title deeds in illegal colonies, he said.
GLADA Additional Chief Administrator Ajay Sood urged people not to purchase plots/properties in unapproved colonies. People should check the status of the colony from GLADA office before investing their hard-earned money to buy residential or commercial plot/property in any colony, he said. — OC
