Students of Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) showcased their work at London Fashion Week. Two independent designers Jasminum Kaur and Avleen Anand, besides two student designers Akshay Sehgal and Gagandeep Singh Tuli, from the INIFD were selected amongst the 500 applicants from all across the country to represent the institution during London Fashion Week at Fashion Scout, London.

Jasminum Kaur, an alumnus of the INIFD, and Avleen Anand, a student, showcased their collections in “Innovation X”. Akshay Sehgal and Gagan Deep Singh Tuli exhibited their collection in “The Rangeen Roit”.

“Both shows were inspired by cultural heritage of India with western aesthetics and silhouettes,” said Kuldeep Kaur, a senior INIFD faculty.

Another faculty member at the INIFD, Avinash, said Avleen had chosen the reviving art as her inspiration as this multi- colored handwork inspired her a lot.

Gagandeep Singh Tulli’s “Capsule collections” were inspired by a book “Feathers of the dawn” written by Sarojini Naidu, he said.

The additional director of the INIFD, Amardeep Lall, said, “GagandeepTuli has won the title ‘Best Designer of the INIFD Fashion Week’.”

Designer Akshay Sehgal’s collection was inspired from Army because of stories of he heard during his childhood from his grandfather and maternal grandfather, he said.
