An international hoopster from Punjab, Anmolpreet Kaur, was felicitated by the Punjab Basketball Association here today. Presently, she is studying in Tokyo (Japan).
Anmolpreet (17) represented the country in the FIBA Asia Basketball Championship held from July 23 to 29 in Bengaluru.
She was honoured for bringing fame to Punjab and the association. She played well in the contest to help Indian contingent come out as B champions and advance into the A category of the competition.
The Ludhiana Basketball Association vice-president, JP Singh, appreciated Anmolpreet for donning national colours to set an example for other budding and aspiring basketball players.
Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab Basketball Association general secretary, Teja Singh Dhaliwal, said Anmolpreet would be the role model for others. He wished her more success in future.
A sports promoter Vijay Chopra along with coaches Davinder Pal Singh Dhindsa, Narinder Kumar, Jaspal Singh and Sanjeev Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Anmolpreet thanked office-bearers of the basketball association for acknowledging her participation in an international competition.
She urged budding players to concentrate on their studies and games to achieve desired goals. She also advised them to keep themselves away from excess use of mobiles and computers.
She also interacted with trainees at Guru Nanak Stadium and shared her experiences with them.
