Kashish, Deepin help Ludhiana take control over Moga on Day 1

Fine batting by Kashish Panseja (117) and Deepin Chitkara (95) helped hosts Ludhiana take control over Moga on the first day of the match in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Katoch Shield being played at GRD Academy, Hambran Road, here today.

Principal, GRD Academy, Navneet Kaur Ahuja, along with director, Prabhji Oberoi, and Tejinder Singh, PRO, were the guests of honour at the opening of the match.

Rajinder Nath Mahajan and Neelam Kanish, president and vice-president, respectively, Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA), besides Love Ablish, former IPL player and chief selector, LDCA, were present on the occasion.

Moga won the toss and opted to field. Ludhiana declared their first innings at 334 runs after 74 overs. Their innings revolved around Kashish Panseja and Deepin Chitkara.

Kashish hammered another hundred (his 4th one in as many matches). He faced 156 balls and scored 117 runs with the help of 16 boundaries and two sixes while Deepin made 95 runs off 101 deliveries, laced with eight hits over the fence and four sixes.

This was the third half century by Deepin in the current season and he missed the century for the second time as he was out in nineties in the previous match against Ferozepur.

Ludhiana lost two wickets with 45 runs on the board but the pair of Kashish and Deepin shared third-wicket partnership of 182 runs that steered their team to a comfortable position.

For the visitors, Kohinoor and Sourabh were the main wicket takers, chipping in with five and three wickets, respectively.

Moga began their reply on a sound note, posting 46 runs by the opening pair. Once they got separated, Moga saw a collapse. At draw of stumps, they were 69 for five after 20 overs.

Krishan, Simranjeet and Sukhjinder Singh shared the bowling honours, forcing Moga into the shackles.
