Ludhiana, October 6
Hosts Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, and Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, scored facile victories over their respective opponents to set up the title clash in the 12th Senior Ludhiana District Baseball Championship which began here today. Ten teams are taking part in the girl’s category.
The first semifinal played between Ramgarhia Girls College and Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, turned out to be a mismatch as the former came out victorious without being challenged (10-0).
The architects of their win were Antarpreet Kaur and Manisha who chipped in with two runs each to guide their side to storm into the final.
In the second semifinal, Guru Nanak Khalsa College recorded an identical victory (10-0) against Govt Sr Sec School, Kasabad village, in which the main contributions came through Arshdeep and Shalini who accounted for two runs each.
Earlier, in the league matches, BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, overpowered International Baseball Club 3-1. Shabnam secured two runs for the winners.
In the second match, Guru Nanak International Public School blanked Khalsa Baseball Club 4-0 with Sumanpreet contributing two runs, and in the next match, Ramgarhia Girls College trounced Shahi Sports Club 10-0 in which the main scorers were Antarpreet Kaur and Rajwinder Kaur who scored a brace each. In the fourth match, Govt Girls Sr Se School, Kasabad village routed Sahi Sports Club, Samrala 11-1 with Komalpreet and Jashan contributing two runs each.
The fifth match was played between Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, and Guru Nanak International Public School in which the former emerged victors 6-2. Satinder Kaur and Karishma scored two runs each for the winning side.
In the last league fixture, the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, proved too good for BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, 10-0. Sujata and Raman contributed two runs each to help their team come out victorious. The final and the hard-line cup match will be played tomorrow.
