Khanna boys romp home to victory in volleyball tourney

Ludhiana, July 31
Trainees from Naresh Chander Stadium, Khanna, today romped home to victory in the boys’ section in volleyball on the second and penultimate day of the District-Level (U-18) Games being organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the Tandrust Punjab Mission here.
Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, finished as runners-up, while Naresh Chander Stadium, Khanna, ‘B’ team secured the third position.
In athletics, Isha Sahota of Sacred Heart Convent School proved her mettle in long jump event to win gold medal, while Simranjit Kaur of Khanna Public School, Khanna, and Harman of Peace Public School, Mullanpur, secured the second and third positions, respectively.
In table tennis (girls), Dindi Putri Pathshala, Khanna and Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana recorded victories in the semi-final to set up the title clash.
Hindi Putri Pathshala warded off spirited battle before coming out triumphant 3-2 against Bal Bharti Public School and Guru Nanak Stadium faced a little resistance from Green Land Covent School, Sector 32, as the former won it 3-0.
In the boys’ category (table tennis), after the knock-out matches, Green Land Convent School, along with Bal Bharti Public School, Guru Nanak Stadium and Kundan Vidya Mandir School qualified for the semi-final.
