Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, defeated OP Gupta SDP Model Senior Secondary School by seven wickets to qualify for the final in the Inter-School PAU Zone Cricket Tournament (U-19) being held at International Public School, Sandhu Nagar, here on Monday.
Batting first after winning the toss, OP Gupta SDP School posted 80 runs on the board, losing eight wickets in the stipulated 12 overs. The main contributions were made by Arjun (21), Rohit (17), Gautam (8) and Chetan (9).
For KVM, Rohan took two wickets for 19 runs, while Sehaj Beri, Aryan Khullar and Vaibhav Kalra secured a wicket each after conceding 14, 9 and 27 runs, respectively.
KVM made the required runs after losing three wickets with two overs to spare. The main architect of their innings was Vaibhav Kalra, who remained unconquered on 41 runs. Sehaj Beri scored 15 runs and Tanish Gangwar made 8 runs to enable their side to achieve the target with an ease.
For the losing side, Shivanshu and Arjun claimed a wicket each after giving away 14 and 9 runs, respectively.
In the final, KVM will take on Government Model Senior Secondary School, PAU, after they reached the final by overcoming SAN Jain Model Senior Secondary School, Circular Road. The final is slated for Tuesday at the Punjab Agricultural University ground.
