The road connecting Laddowal on Ludhiana-Amritsar highway to Hambran is in a shambles, inconveniencing commuters.
This road also connects Sidhwan Bet, Jagraon and Moga to the Ludhiana-Amritsar National highway and serves as a bypass for those travelling from the Jalandhar side to Moga, thus a lot of commuters take the road every day.
During a visit, The Tribune found that the road is full of potholes which makes travelling on the road a difficult task. According to villagers, the road has been poor shape for the past several years. A large number of vehicles, including trucks and tippers laden with sand, pass through the road daily, but the government had paid no heed to improving the condition of the road, said they.
“The condition of the road has deteriorated due to the regular use by tippers laden with sand,” said villager Hakam Singh.
Apart from Laddowal, this road also connects a dozens of villages with cities such as Sidhwan Bet, Jagraon and Moga.
“There are countless pits on the road and travelling on the road proves to be an uphill task for the commuters. This is a quite busy road and its condition should be taken care of,” said Gurmit, another villager.
Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Lal Singh said the department has started the process of the construction of all link roads of the state, including the Laddowal-Hambran road.
