Lawyer dies, judge’s son hurt in accident

A senior advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court was killed and the son of a judge severely injured when their car collided with a tree on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road near Chahilan village last night. The deceased has been identified as Parveen Kumar Nagpal (50) and the injured as Puneet Kumar.
Nagpal and Puneet were going to Chandigarh from Ludhiana in a car. When they reached near Chahilan village, the driver lost control over the car and it rammed into a roadside tree. Nagpal died on the spot. Puneet, who was severely injured, was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Samrala. The doctors at the Civil Hospital referred him to the PGI, Chandigarh.
The car driver, Amrit, also suffered injuries. He is out of danger. — OC
