LBA boys, Amritsar eves emerge champions in b’ball tourney

Ludhiana, August 20

Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) in the boys’ section while Amritsar district in the girls’ section emerged champions in the 70th Junior Punjab State Basketball Championship that concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

In the girl’s category, trainees of the LBA secured the second position, whereas Sangrur district finished at the third place.

Similarly, in the boys’ group, Ludhiana and Mohali districts secured second and third positions, respectively.

Today, in the semifinal league in the boys’ category, LBA outplayed Ludhiana district 51-39 and Mohali outperformed Patiala 47-28 while Ludhiana got the better of Patiala 81-61 and Moahli scraped past LBA 67-65.

In the girls’ section, Amritsar thrashed Mohali 56-21 while Sangrur survived some anxious moments against Mohali before coming out triumphant 42-40 and Amritsar district prevailed over LBA 64-55.

Yurinder Singh Hayer, IGP and vice-president of the Punjab Basketball Association, along with other-office bearers gave away prizes to the winners.
