Lecture on heart care by US doc

Ludhiana, July 5
Vice-chairman, Roberts and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and chief quality officer, Heart and Vascular Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio (USA), Dr Umesh N Khot, emphasised on the regular use of medications for heart failure patients.
He said, “If medications are taken regularly then majority of patients with heart failure can avoid having device therapy or cardiac transplantation.” He also stressed upon dietary precaution, regular exercise and weight control to prevent development of heart diseases.
Dr Khot was delivering a guest lecture on “Recent advances on heart failure” in an interactive session organised by Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) here.
Professor and head, Department of Cardiology, CMCH, Dr Rajneesh Calton, said the lecture delivered by the visiting US expert had generated a lot of interest and awareness among the audience.
A large number of doctors and health care professionals from various institutions in the city attended the lecture.
The CMCH director, Dr Abraham G Thomas, said the hospital was looking forward to have long-term association with Cleveland Clinic, Ohio (USA), to provide state of the art treatment to heart patients in Punjab.
Managing Director, Trident Groups of Industries, Rajinder Gupta, who had invited Dr Khot to visit Ludhiana said the Trident Group had been associated with Cleveland Clinic for over 15 years now. Dr Khot’s visit was ably supported by Deepika Gandhi, the Cleveland Clinic representative in India.
