Legal eagles offer advice at fair

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) today extended helping hand to farmers by providing them free legal guidance during Kisan Mela held on the Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) campus.

He said farmers were provided necessary information about free legal services. They were also given advice on different legal issues and problems being faced by them, he added.

“The purpose is to spread clear message among the people that nobody can be denied justice and underprivileged can avail free legal aid,” added the Sessions Judge. Mostly, the people take advice on matrimonial and property disputes within family, besides non cancellation of FIRs despite compromises between the parties.

“Any farmer or man having annual income less than Rs 1.5 lakh, women or person in custody, member of SC/ST community, industrial workers, minors and insane are entitled to free legal services,” said the CJM, Dr Gurpreet Kaur.

A team of lawyers, including Rohit Mehta, Deepak Ghai along with para-legal volunteer Manohar Lal, Baljit Kaur guided farmers. — OLC
