Om Prakash Gupta SDP Model Senior Secondary School, Qila Mohalla, emerged victorious in the PSEB Zonal Cricket Tournament (U-17) organised by the Education Department at the International Public School, Sandhu Nagar.
This was the second consecutive title victory for the school.
In the final match, OP Gupta SDP School beat GRD Academy comprehensively by 73 runs to romp home as zonal champions.
Batting first, OP Gupta SDP School, in the allotted 15 overs, made 127 runs after losing three wickets.
In reply, GRD Academy could muster only 54 runs and surrendered meekly.
OP Gupta SDP School dominated throughout the tournament in which as many as 32 schools took part.
Lovepreet Singh, student of this school, emerged the highest run-getter. He has been selected as the captain of the Ludhiana district (Zonal) team for the Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament.
Besides, Vishal Kumar, Rohan, Nitish and Gourav, also from OP Gupta SDP School have been selected to represent the district team in the upcoming tournament.
Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President of SDP Sabha and Dr Sanjeev Bindra, Principal of the school, congratulated the boys for this achievement. They also wished the selected cricketers good luck for future competition. These cricketers were felicitated at the school.
