The police division 4 booked an elderly man on the charges of attempting to rape his daughter-in-law. The accused has been identified as Avinash Chawla, a resident of Basant Nagar, Shimlapuri. The complainant said she got married to the son of Avinash in 2010 and her husband was running a provisional store in Haibowal. After marriage, she gave a birth a boy and a girl.
“When I got married, I was not told that my husband was a drug addict and due to this my father-in-law used to show affection towards me. However, in the meantime, I realised that under the garb of showing sympathy, he was only trying to exploit me sexually as he used to touch me inappropriately, ” the victim alleged.
The victim further alleged that when she revealed the matter to his brother, he asked her to make a video of her father-in-law whenever he tried to exploit her sexually.
Paying heed to his brother’s advice, she made some videos of her father-in-law and sent the same to her brother, following which a complaint was filed in the police station.
