Man shoots at 2 with airgun

A man went berserk and shot at two persons with his airgun at Jawaddi village here this evening.
The man, identified as Daljit Singh of Gurdev Nagar, was arrested while the injured, Bakshish Singh (85) and Charanjit Lal, were rushed to the hospital.
The incident took place at around 5 pm when Daljit opened fire with his air gun near Jawaddi Gurdwara.
Daljit first shot Charanjit Lal, who was selling peanuts near the gurdwara, in the neck and went on to shoot at Bakshish Singh, who had come to pay obeisance at the gurudwara.
Eyewitnesses said he was aiming at a child when the area residents overpowered him and informed the police.
Though the PCR personnel reached the spot, confusion prevailed as it was not clear whether the place falls under the jurisdiction of Model Town or the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar police station.
Finally, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar SHO rounded up Daljit Singh and seized the weapon.
