Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) president Simarjeet Singh Bains has nominated Talwinder Singh Mann as the new chief of the youth wing of the party.
Mann has also been authorised to reorganise the youth wing.
This decision was taken at a meeting of the core committee of the party held here today in which several issues concerning the organisational set up were discussed at length.
Giving details, core committee member Jaswinder Singh Khalsa said the new president would rejig the youth wing of the LIP in consultation with senior party leaders and existing office-bearers would also be screened on the basis of their performance.
He said the youth wing had a very crucial role to perform in the working of the party, especially with regard to their reaching out to the masses with the policies and programmes of the party.
Mann said he would undertake a tour of the entire state and infuse new vigour among the party rank and file.
In an appeal to the youth, he asked them to join hands with the LIP and contribute in the signature campaign ‘Saada Pani Saada Haq’ (our water our right) so that the state government could be forced to safeguard river waters of Punjab and earn money from water flowing to other states.
“If the state could have more financial resources, the debt-ridden farmers could get some relief, students could get free education in schools and colleges and access to free healthcare facilities,” he added.
