Ludhiana: A lecture 'Inculcating moral values and character building' was organised at DAV School, BRS Nagar, under the aegis of 'Prerna Vidya Peeth'. Swami Adhytmananda ji Maharajs, Head, Swami Sivananda Ashram, Ahmadabad, was the chief guest. Swami ji talked about the importance of being focused and determined. He asked the students to go for self analysis and realise the role assigned to each human during his stay on the earth. Principal JK Sidhu exhorted the students to tread the path of spirituality shown by Swami ji.
Dance competition
Colourful and energising solo dance competition was organised at Shri Harkrishan Sahib Senior Secondary School, Daba Road. The happiness of the children was evident from the applause and appreciation. Ekamvir, Himanshi and Lakshpreet bagged the first three positions in the first category. The competition ended with a prize distribution ceremony.
Seminar on cancer awareness
Members of Global Cancer Concern visited GMT International Public School, Vishal Nagar, Kakowal Road, for a seminar. Students were told about the causes of cancer and precautions. They motivated the students and made them aware about the symptoms of the disease and to consult a doctor immediately if any symptom surfaced.
Students shine
Mukhtiar Kaur of Garden Valley International School kept the audience spellbound with lively performance during a solo-song competition organised by Sahodaya East Zone, Khanna. Students, including Mukhtair Kaur, Harnam Singh, Basant Singh and Dharam Kaur, were honoured by Principal Harpreet Kaur Taneja for their dedication to music.
Eye check-up camp
BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School organised a free eye check-up camp for the drivers of school buses. The objective of the event was to spread awareness on eye care. The camp was organised in collaboration with Sankara Eye Hospital. Around 70 drivers were examined by a team of doctors. School Principal Paramjit Kaur thanked the doctors.
World Run Day
Students of Ryan International School, Dugri, participated in various competitions on World Run Day with enthusiasm and zeal. A mini marathon was organised for the students of classes III to V on the school premises and a cross-country marathon was organised for the students of Classes VI onwards.
Cancer Awareness Day
Doraha: World Cancer Awareness day was observed at Green Grove Public School here. Students of Class IX B raised awareness about cancer and encouraged its prevention, detection and treatment. Harsirat and Sanchi highlighted the causes, effects and measures to fight the disease. The students explained more about the disease through PowerPoint presentations, videos, flash cards and charts. President JPS Jolly and Principal Suzy George were the guests of honour. They appreciated the efforts of students and applauded their hard work. TNS/OC
