Mullanpur, Kila Raipur schools emerge champs

The Government High School, Mullanpur, and Nankana Sahib Senior Secondary Public School, Kila Raipur, stamped their supremacy by emerging overall champions in the girls’ U-17 and U-19 categories, respectively, in the Ludhiana District Schools Inter-Zonal Games organised by the District Education Department under the aegis of the Punjab School Education Board at different venues across the district today.
In the girls’ U-17 section, Amrit Indo Canadian Academy, Ladian Kalan, and the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, secured second and third positions, respectively.
Likewise, in the girls’ U-19 group, Amrit Indo Canadian Academy and the Government Senior Secondary School, Gill village, finished as first and second runners up, respectively.
Amrit Indo Canadian Academy players came out winners in the boys’ U-17 section while the Government Senior Secondary School, Hambran, bagged top honours in the U-19 category. The Government Senior Secondary School, Kila Raipur, secured second position in the U-17 section while Teja Singh Swatanter Memorial School finished third. In the boys’ U-19 category, Teja Singh Swatanter Memorial School and the Government Senior Secondary School, Kila Raipur, secured second and third place, respectively.
In basketball matches held today for boys at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, the Ludhiana II Zone survived many anxious moments against the Sahnewal Zone before romping home victorious in the boys’ U-14 category (54-51).
However, the match to decide the third position, played between the PAU Zone and the Jagraon Zone turned out to be a mismatch as the former scored a facile 20-0 victory. — OSC
