Namdhari sect members carry out cleanliness drive

The members of Namdhari Sect carried out cleanliness drives at various location in the city on Saturday. Namdhari Sect head Satguru Uday Singh participated in the cleanliness campaign and appealed the residents to make city clean.
The drive began from the Book market and also carried out at Chaura Bazar and Lal market. The members armed with brooms, containers, JCB machines and tractor trollies collected the garbage from various points at these areas.
Satguru Uday Singh appealed to the public to segregate the garbage. He said wet and dry waste should be kept separately. For ensuring good health, there is a need to keep environment and surroundings clean, he said.
“It was a surgical strike against garbage thrown at various locations. We will keep participating in such drives to make city neat and clean,” said, one of the members.
Spokesperson of Namdhari Darbar, Lakhvir Singh said the namdharis had started the drive around 4 am in the morning. He said around 350 members participated in the drive. Earlier, the members had participated in the drive to remove silt and waste from Buddha Nullah.
