National workshop at Master Tara Singh College
Ludhiana: A four-day national workshop on Research Methodology was organised at the Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana. Dr Neeraj Kaushik, an Associate Professor at the NIT Kurkshetra and Dr Sunil Budhiraja, an associate professor at the LPU, Jalandhar, were the resource persons who tried to familiarise the students of the Phd with the stimulating basics of research methodology. The participants from across the various states attended the workshop. Members of college managing committee and principal Kirandeep Kaur welcomed the guests and appreciated the resource persons for inspiring the young research fellows.
NSS camp at Guru Nanak Girls College
On the third day of the seven-day special NSS Camp being organised by Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana, the NSS volunteers recited the NSS theme song to promote national integration and communal harmony among the volunteers. The NSS volunteers celebrated Christmas and sang carols. Volunteers also shed light on the life, ideology and sacrifice of the Jesus Christ. A poem recitation competition was held among volunteers on the theme of “save environment, global warming and its effects, managing national wealth for a better life”. Ravisha Gudwani (BSc-III) and (Urvashi BSc-II) shared coveted first prize, Anterpreet and Navpreet Kaur of MA-II (English) shared the second prize whereas third prize was jointly bagged by Amandeep (BSc-I) and Nikita (BCom-I).
Extension lecture at Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College
A seven-day NSS camp at Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana, helped students learning various activities. The students learnt various yoga exercises for healthy living. There was a lecture on self-management of diabetes by Dr Naveen Mittal(DMC). He evoked the students regarding the gap currently existing between the promise and the reality of diabetes care. He guided the students that self-care was an essential strategy. People with diabetes should be encouraged and enabled to participate actively in managing and monitoring their condition. Another interactive lecture on family values and culture was organised. The resource person for the lecture was Dr DP Sharma, PhD, Human Rights. He elaborated that the family values definition consists of ideas passed down from generation to generation. The next training session was held by Usha Chopra (an instructor of the Red Cross Society) on the topic First Aid to pay the immediate attention to a sufferer. — TNS
