Keep a tab on milk vendors, sweets shops, officials told

Keeping in view the upcoming festive season, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal has directed the Health Department and Dairy Development Department to keep a strict vigil on milk and sweets businesses.

Agrawal was presiding over the monthly meeting of ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’ at his office on Monday.

Expressing satisfaction over the performance of various departments, Agrawal directed the Health Department and Dairy Development Department to continue checking the quality of food products being sold in the market. He said keeping in mind the upcoming festive season, milk vendors and those involved in sweets business should pay special attention, as these products were the most consumed during these days.

Forest Dept told to set up ‘tree guards’

The DC directed the Forest Department and the District Development and Panchayat Department to continuously monitor the campaign initiated by the Punjab Government to plant 550 saplings in each village on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. He also directed that tree guards be set up in sufficient numbers to protect the plants being planted. Apart from this, the rest of the departments were also asked to continue their efforts to achieve the goals under Mission Tandarust Punjab.

He also appealed to people to give full support to the success of the mission. He said if people were concerned about spurious products, they should contact on the helpline number 0161-2444193 at the Civil Surgeon’s Office and provide confirmed information, on which appropriate action would be taken. He also made an appeal to properly maintain the plants being planted in the villages.
