A 35-year-old worker was killed when a boiler exploded at RS Textiles in Geeta Colony, Tajpur Road, this afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Ranjit of Sherpur. He had been working in the factory for the past several years.
Tibba SHO Satpal said the boiler exploded due to excessive heat. Ranjit, who was standing near the boiler, fell down. He did not suffer any burns or other injuries. It seemed he died of cardiac arrest.
The SHO said no case had been registered as the deceased’s family was yet to record a statement with the police. Once the family records a statement, further proceedings will be initiated accordingly, he added.
Sources said the police would also investigate as to whether all safety parameters were being followed at the factory.
