Nigerian held with 1-kg heroin, cocaine

The police claimed to have arrested a foreign national and recovered 1 kg of heroin and 5 gm of cocaine from his possession. The heroin is worth Rs 5 crore on the international market.

The suspect has been identified as Harrison Chinedu Naji, a resident of Nigeria and at present residing at Bhagat Singh Marg in New Delhi.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said a police party was checking suspected vehicles and persons at a naka near Pristine Mall on the GT Road. The police signalled a Toyota Camry bearing a Delhi number that was coming from the Gobindgarh side. However, the car driver tried to escape. The police nabbed him and recovered 1 kg of heroin, 5 gm of cocaine, four mobile phones and one silver chain from his possession.

A case under Section 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Sadar police station. During preliminary investigation, it was found the suspect had brought the drugs from Delhi and was going towards Ludhiana to deliver it to some person. The car driver had no driving licence.

The SSP said the Khanna police had arrested 21 Nigerians and recovered 10 kg of heroin besides other drugs from them since July 13, 2018.
