Nine players from city selected for 10th Pesapallo World Cup

As many as 10 players from Punjab, including nine from Ludhiana district, have been selected to represent the country in the 10th Pesapallo World Cup, scheduled to be held at Pune from November 26 to 30.
These players have been selected for the mega event on the basis of their performance in the National Pesapallo Championship. Prior to their participation in this competition, these players will attend the preparatory camp to be conducted from November 18 to 24 at Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
Giving this information, Harbir Singh Gill, honorary secretary, Pesapallo Association of Punjab, said seven boys and three girls from Ludhiana would attend this camp before the final selection of the Indian squad for the World Cup.
The players include Ishwinderpal Singh, student of BBA II at SCD Government College for Boys, Ludhiana. He participated in the three editions of the Senior National Pesapallo Championship (2017-2019) wherein the Punjab team won one silver medal and one bronze medal.
Yuvraj Singh, student of BCom II at SCD Government College represented the state team in the Senior National Championship for three years and once in the Junior National Championship. Punjab team secured gold medal once and one bronze medal in these championships.
Tanvir Singh Chawla, also a student of SCD Government College, played in three Senior National Pesapallo Championships and got gold medal and bronze medal.
Ankydeep Singh, student of BA II at the same college, too participated in three national and one junior national championship winning one gold and one bronze medal in these meets.
Manpreet Singh Bhinder, student of Class XI at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, represented Punjab in two senior and one junior championship and secured a bronze medal.
Rythem Soni took part in the senior and junior national championships and won a bronze medal while Kamal Batra, student of BCom II at Arya College was the member of Punjab team that clinched one gold and one bronze medal in the National Pesapallo Championship.
Three girls namely Anchal, Aarti and Anjali also figured in the national team for the ensuing World Cup.
Anchal and Aarti, both students of BA II at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, while Anjali, a student of BP Ed II at the Shaheed Kanshi Ram College of Physical Education, Bhagoo Majra, near Kharar, represented Punjab in the recently held Senior National Pesapallo Championship held at Pali in Rajasthan wherein the team secured bronze medal.
Harbir Singh Gill along with Sukhdev Singh Aulakh, vice-president of the Pesapallo Association of Punjab and Kulwant Kaur Dhaliwal, member of the association, accorded a warm send-off to the players for Raipur to attend the camp. They wished the players good luck for the forthcoming World Cup.
