City skater Tehdil Kaur started taking part in roller skating at a tender age of four years and since then there has been no looking back.

Tehdil has successfully carved a niche for herself by winning countless medals and her appetite for more accolades refuses to die down.

She is a student of Class XI at Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, and appears to have a firm grip in certain skating events as she emerges winner in the same in every competition.

Following her elder sister Gurman Kaur Pannu, who was a state skating champion, Tehdil, daughter of a local businessman Jagjit Singh Pannu, stamped her supremacy when she finished well ahead of others to clinch gold medals in 500-metre, 1,000-metre rink races and 5-km road race during the 63rd Punjab School Games 2017-18 held from November 17 to 19 at Sangrur.

For this outstanding achievement, Tehdil has been selected to represent the state team in the National School Games slated to be held next month in Bengaluru.In the last edition of these games held at Belgaum in Karnataka, Tehdil wrapped up three gold medals and was adjudged the best player of the tournament.

Acknowledging her achievements, the district administration, Ludhiana felicitated Tehdil Kaur, when she was invited to be the chief guest during Saras Mela held from October 5 to 16 on the Punjab Agricultural University campus. Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Agrawal presided over the proceedings on that day.

Tehdil said she owes her success to her coaches, under whose guidance she achieved great heights, and school authorities for acknowledging her achievements which inspired her to excel.

Tehdil, who has been practicing hard at the Leisure Valley Skating Rink for the upcoming nationals, is set to repeat her previous achievements and bring fame to her parents, school and the coaching centre.

Principal Sacred Heart Convent School Sister Reshmi lauded Tehdil for her continuous outstanding achievements. “We wish her good luck for the forthcoming National School Games. She is a role model for other students from the school,” she said.
