No water cooler, filter at bus stand

The absence of water coolers at the Ludhiana bus stand has become a cause of inconvenience for visitors who have to either drink hot tap water or buy mineral water bottles from shopkeepers at the bus stand.

Sources say there had been no water cooler at the bus stand because of which the visitors have no choice but to drink hot water or buy mineral water bottles. “Moreover, there has been no water purifier (RO system or water filters) installed to clean the drinking water being supplied at the bus stand, causing hygiene issues,” said a source.

Some of the passengers said the bus stand was a prominent public place as thousands of people visit it every day and not all of them could afford to buy mineral water bottles and were forced to quench their thirst with hot tap water even in the summer season.

The passengers demanded that the bus stand authorities should install at least two water coolers on the premises.

Ludhiana Bus Stand Station Superintendent Daleep Singh said the roadways authorities would take up the issue with the company which has the contract to maintain the bus stand. “We will take up the issue with the company officials and ask them to do the needful for the benefit of passengers,” he assured.
