Ludhiana, December 18
The authorities of Ferozepur Division, Northern Railway, have allocated the main parking lot of Ludhiana railway station to a Delhi-based company. The new contractor is expected to assume charge of the parking lot within a couple of days.
Earlier, the visitors to the station had to park their vehicles at the parking lot at their own risk in the absence of a parking contractor.
In fact, the railway authorities had terminated the previous parking contract some time ago in the wake of repeated complaints of overcharging. The authorities confirmed that the parking lot had been allotted to a Delhi-based contractor.
According to sources, the Railways has given the charge of main parking lot at the base price of Rs 1.75 crore to the new contractor. The Railways has also revised the parking rates. Now, the two-wheeler owners will have to pay Rs 15 against the earlier rate of Rs 10 and the car owners will have to shell out Rs 50 instead of the earlier rate of Rs 40 at the parking lot.
Ludhiana Railway Station Director Abhinav Singla said the new parking contractor would assume charge of the parking lot within a couple of days. “The visitors will not have to face any kind of inconvenience while parking their vehicles at railway station after the new contractor assumes charge. We would make sure that the new contractor follows all terms and conditions of the railway authorities,” said Singla.
