Recognising his role in helping Punjabi youth who are staying in Canada on student visa, office bearers of local organisations felicitated social activist and NRI from Winnipeg.
Convener of the event Naresh Sharma said office bearers of social organisations led by President Municipal Council Suraaj Mohammad had felicitated Rajan Sharma, an NRI from local Yash Painter Wali Gali area, for his contribution in rescuing distressed Punjabi students in Canada.
Rajan Sharma had also played a vital role in fetching body of a local youth, Haider who had died following accidental drowning in a pool in Winnipeg over a year ago.
Paying gratitude for selfless services being rendered by Rajan Sharma and his associates, President Suraaj Mohammad said, “Rajan Sharma came to the rescue of our family at a time when we all were shocked to learn about accidental drowning of our nephew and there was nobody we could bank upon in Canada. Though the Almighty did not grant life of our nephew, Rajan and his associates did a lot for our family by helping the body being sent to India, that too after meeting financial obligations related to all procedures.”
Rajan Sharma said he, along with his associates, have been trying to solve problems being faced by the youth staying in Canada on student visa. “Though we are not associated with any of the organisations, we normally join hands in case of need and try to help needy people in general and Punjabi students in particular,” said Sharma.
