NSPS lad bags silver in wrestling

Taranveer Singh, a budding wrestler of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, has bagged silver medal in the recently held state-level wrestling event. The competition was organised by the state Sports Department at Guru Nanak Stadium.

Taranveer is a student of Class VI who participated in the U-14 category (Weight 62 kg). Sharing his achievement, he said: “I am yet to hit my target as I was expecting gold medal. I will continue my regular practice and will win next time. I daily practice for two hours in our private ‘akhara’ at Alamgir village.”

While talking about his inspiration, he said: “My uncle is also a wrestler. He is my role model. My elder brother also practices wrestling. We both practice under his guidance.”

Taranveer aspires to win gold for India in international events. He is thankful to Jagjit Singh, the head of Physical Education Department of his school, for encouraging him. —TNS
