One held with 310-gm heroin

The local Special Task Force (STF) unit has arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 310 gram of heroin from his possession. Notably, the STF had arrested three smugglers with 1.5 kg of heroin on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Harleen Singh Harry (25), a resident of Dhandari Kalan.

The STF in charge, Harbans Singh, said secret information was received about a smuggler heading from the Pakhowal road towards BRS Nagar to deliver heroin. Accordingly, a naka was laid near Lodhi Club where a man riding Royal Enfield motorcycle was stopped for checking. While checking belongings of the bike-borne person 310 gm of heroin was recovered from him.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that he was working as a salesman at Plus Size store in MBD Mall and was also into the notorious trade from the past two years.

The smuggler also revealed that he had been bringing the consignment of heroin from some Amritsar-based smuggler and selling it in retail to his clients.

The accused was also facing a case of looting registered at the Moti Nagar police station and proceedings of declaring him a proclaimed offender were on as he was running absent in the case.
