Ludhiana: An orientation session, ‘Shape the Mind’, was organised by BCM School, Chandigarh Road, for the students of commerce stream of Class XI and XII in Mata Thakur Devi auditorium. Prem Kumar, executive director, LBCM Foundation, motivated the students to become job-providers instead of job-seekers. 

Dental check-up camp

A milky teeth check-up camp for kindergarten students was organised at BVM, Sector-39. Dr Prachi, along with her paramedical staff, carried out a comprehensive dental check-up of tiny tots. The camp began with a dental awareness talk. Principal Upasna Modgil expressed her gratitude to the staff for rendering moral and selfless service.

Inter-class declamation competition

An inter-class declamation competition was held for Class IX at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana. The aim of the competition was to let the students use wings of their cognitive creativity through effective oratory skills. Around 50 students displayed their remarkable hold over English, Hindi and Punjabi. In English, Hershnoor Kaur of Class IX-D bagged first position while Sidhakveer Singh of Class IX-B and Kriti of Class IX-I bagged second position. Abhay Pratap Singh Gill of Class IX-D got third position. In Hindi, Garima of Class IX-E got first position while Harleen Kaur of Class IX-B got second position and Ashnoor Singla of Class IX-D third position. Khushant Sharma of Class IX-F bagged consolation. In Punjabi, Dashreet Singh of Class IX-D bagged first position, Gurleen Kaur and Nimanjot Kaur of Class IX-H bagged second positon, Harsimran Kaur of Class IX-E secured third position and Tanveen of Class IX-F got consolation. Satwant Kaur Bhullarm, principal, congratulated the students for their unique approach and empathy towards social issues. She encouraged students to read voraciously and participate actively in such competitions.

Investiture organised

An investiture for the academic year 2019-20 was organised at Peace Public School. The new students’ council took an oath to discharge their responsibilities with utmost dedication and sincerity. Gagandeep Singh and Mallika Saggoo were conferred the honour of head boy and head girl, respectively, for the senior wing of Peace Public School. For the junior wing, Bhavyam and Gurnoor were declared head boy and head girl, respectively. President of the school SC Jain guided the young leaders to be more focused and dedicated towards their work. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks delivered by director Usha Jain.

Best Cadet Award

Students of Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Civil Lines, participated in NCC Best Cadet Competition of Ludhiana Group. Four cadets of the school in junior and senior wings, including boys and girls, excelled in the competition. The competition comprised activities such as firing, group discussion, general knowledge, drill and NCC syllabus. Harshit Kapoor of junior wing was adjudged Best Cadet and Yatin Targotra won Second Best Cadet. Shreya Naurial of senior wing was declared Best Cadet and Angel Asdhir of junior wing was adjudged Second Best Cadet. Col JS Bali, Commanding Officer of 3 PB Girls BN NCC; and Col Harmanjit Singh, Commanding Officer, 3 PB BN NCC, gave away the prize cheque to the cadets.  TNS
