Over 30 booked after clash over parking fee

LUDHIANA: The Salem Tabri police have booked more than 30 persons for resorting to firing over the parking rates at the vegetable market near the Jalandhar bypass.

The Salem Tabri police have booked more than 30 persons for resorting to firing over the parking rates at the vegetable market near the Jalandhar bypass.

A cross-case under Section 160 and 336, IPC, and the Arms Act has been registered at the Salem Tabri police station. The suspects in the first group have been identified as Ravinder Kumar of Sant Nagar, Sukhwinder Singh of Dasuya, Chandar Kumar, Jagroop Singh, Avtar Singh, Kaka of Rurka and seven unknown persons. The suspects in the second group are Gurkamal Singh of Nawan Mohalla, Mukesh Kumar of Vijay Nagar, Gaurav Sharma of Tajpur Road, Raja, Shanky, Gaggu, Sheela, Bunty of Karabara Chowk, Gurpreet Singh of Bhadarke Road, Vishu, Ansham of Salem Tabri, Vicky, Raj Malhotra, Sachin Kumar, Appu, Butta, Prabh, Shubham of Salem Tabri and some unknown persons.

According to the police, on March 18 night, the police noticed a noisy quarrel. When the police party reached there, both groups were resorting to firing.

The SHO said a contractor, Ravinder Kumar, had employed Chandar Kumar Bhagat for collection of parking fee. When Bhagat increased the parking rates, an old parking contractor, Gurkawal, got angry and he indulged in a fight with him. The fight turned into a group clash where both parties resorted to firing.

Police said raids were on to nab the suspects.
