Overwhelming response to trials for LDCA Academy

Ludhiana, September 30

Around 250 aspirants, including those from Ludhiana city and its nearby places, attended the selection trials conducted by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA), an affiliated body of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), to select the probables (U-14) on Sunday.

Trials were organised at the GRD Academy ground on Hambran Road to select the cricketers for the Regional Coaching Centre Academy run by the LDCA under the aegis of the PCA. Players born on or after September 1, 2004, were eligible for these trials.

Vinod Chitkara, honorary general secretary, LDCA, said the selection panel with former Punjab Ranji and IPL player Love Abhlish besides former Punjab players namely Dinesh Puri and Gagandeep Dhand watched the aspirants during the trials. The LDCA did not charge any fee from aspirants, he said.

“The selectors will finalise around 50 players for the academy, who will attend coaching-cum-training camp prior to the participation of Inter-District Regional Coaching Centre Academy cricket matches to prepare cricketers for future competitions under the guidelines of the PCA,” Chitkara said.

The list of selected players would be released on October 2, said the general secretary, LDCA.
