Pandit Sharda Ram Phillauri remembered

Pt Sharda Ram Phillauri was remembered and tributes were paid to him by the Pandit Sharda Ram Phillauri Memorial Welfare Society here today.

The 182nd birth anniversary of Pandit Sharda Ram Phillauri was celebrated at Krishna Mandir, Model Town. On this occasion, nine famous personalities were honoured with Ludhiana Rattan Award which are working socially from the long time.

These included General Sec DMC Prem Gupta , Social Worker Satish Gupta, Badish Jindal Industrialist and Mukesh Sood , Manjula Jain, Dungar Singh Sartaj Sweets, .Gurinder Singh Kairon General Secondary Satlej Club, LL Malhotra and KR Aplish.

Krishan Kumar Bawa thanked the Krishna Mandir Committee for organising the religious function. He said Pt Sharda Ram Phillauri was a great writer and had written the religious aarti, ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’. His life was full of struggle. He worked for the Punjabi language and fought against sati system. He died at the age of 43 and achieved many awards. Besides, he wrote many other religious books, said Bawa. — TNS
