Residents faced traffic snarls not only during daytime but also at midnight on the Ferozepur road, thanks to a large number of marriages held across the city.

As January 21 is considered an auspicious date, a majority of marriage palaces witnessed wedding celebrations.

At midnight, residents started leaving the wedding venues. This led to a traffic chaos. The wedding palace authorities had not made proper arrangements to regulate the traffic rush.

A fashion designer, Navdeep Cambos, said weddings were taking place in almost all marriage palaces. “While returning home after attending a wedding, I was stuck in a traffic jam on the Ferozepur road. I had to wait in the car for nearly half an hour till the traffic situation eased,” said Navdeep.

At the Maharaja Grand marriage palace, the haphazard parking of vehicles compounded the problem.

Nitin Berri, a businessman, who also got stuck in a traffic jam, said: “Traffic jams have become a routine during daytime. But I did not expect that I have to remain stuck in a jam at midnight”.

Finally, at 1:30 am, the traffic came back to normal.
