Patar’s lyrics sung by son, emphasises need to sing good poetry

At a time when the entire Punjabi music industry is reeling under songs glorifying gangsters and anti-social elements, Manraj Patar, son of celebrated poet Dr Surjit Patar, has come up with his second single titled “Chidiyaan”.
The song has been composed by Manraj Patar himself and music has been given by Chetan. It has been released by Harp Farmer Pictures in collaboration with Walking Tree Productions.
While speaking during the release function, Manraj, who is working as an assistant professor at the Punjab College of Technical Education, Ludhiana, said this was his second single after his maiden track ‘Silsila’ that was released last year. Silsila was also written by Dr Patar and the video was produced by Walking Tree Production and Harp Farmer Pictures.
Speaking about the track, Manraj said he enjoyed giving voice to the contemplative poem by his father about the changing world and mobility. The commotion and ‘storm’ is for people getting in the race to defeat others, instead of supporting and helping others grow.
Manraj says he doesn’t believe in singing songs just to gain quick popularity. He emphasises the fact that good melodious voices should become a vehicle of good Punjabi poetry, literary and elevating thoughts to enrich the world of Punjabi music with sublimity that is inherent in Punjabi culture and heritage.
