PAU Zone girls emerge champs

PAU Zone beat Ludhiana II Zone to emerge winners in the girls U-19 category in the District Schools Inter-Zone Badminton Tournament for Boys and Girls held at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium here on Friday.

In the final, PAU Zone came out triumphant 2-0 in which Prerna Dawar, Siya Sharma and Tanya Dhir of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, played the pivot role.

Samrala Zone outplayed Khanna Zone in a similar fashion (2-0) to finish at third place.

However, in the girls U-14 section, Ludhiana II Zone avenged their defeat as they outclassed the PAU Zone 2-0 to fetch the title whereas Samrala Zone overpowered Sahnewal Zone 3-1 to secure third position.

Similarly, in the U-17 group, Samrala Zone got the better of Ludhiana II Zone 2-0 to wrap up the title and the PAU Zone defeated Jagraon Zone 3-1 to finish at third place.

In the boys U-19 category, Ludhiana II Zone beat Sahnewal Zone 3-1 to bag the top honours while the PAU Zone outplayed Kila Raipur 2-0 to content with the third position.
