PAU zone scripts win on Day 1

The PAU Zone won its matches in the U-17 and 19 categories on the opening day of the Ludhiana District Inter-Zone Football Tournament for Girls which commenced at Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar here today.

In the U-17 section, PAU Zone fought a pitched battle to overcome their spirited opponents from Jagraon Zone whom they beat 1-0 and in the U-19 category, PAU Zone survived many anxious moments against Dakha Zone before wrapping up the issue 1-0.

In other matches (U-17), Sahnewal Zone foght it tooth an nail to overpower Ludhiana II Zone 1-0 while Samrala Zone prevailed over Rara Sahib Zone 2-0. In the U-19 group, Kila Raipur Zone defeated Jagraon Zone 3-1 whereas Ludhiana II Zone warded off stiff resistence from Sahnewal Zone before romping home victorious 1-0.

Swaranjit Kaur, District Education Officer, Ludhiana declared the tournament open in which twenty teams are taking part. Ajitpal Singh, Assitant Education Officear along with Paramjit Kaur, Kulbir Singh, Thakurpreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Iqbal Singh, Gurmail Singh and Bhupinder Singh, head of the physical education department, Guru Nanak Public School were among other present on this occasion.
