Payal MLA gives priority to girl child over boys

Ahmedgarh, January 8
Office-bearers and activists of various social, religious and constitutional bodies announced to associate with the government schemes launched for the betterment of sex ratio.
Announcement was made jointly by the Payal legislator, Lakhvir Singh Lakha and Sub-Divisional Magistrate— Swati Tiwana— during a concluding session of the programme held for felicitation of parents of girls at Sihar village near here today.
The district programme officer, Rupinder Kaur, presided over the function under the supervision of Dehlon Child and Development Project Officer, Amrish Jain.
In his address, Lakhvir Singh Lakha, stressed on the need of curbing gender-based discrimination in families and society.
He said daughters were more emotionally attached to parents. “Although, my kids are too young to comment on this matter, but I am more proud of my seven-year-old daughter who does not dine and sleep till I return home at night,”he said.
Payal SDM Swati Tiwana said formal education was the most effective tool to be provided to the children irrespective of their gender, if their future was to be safeguarded. Students of Good Earth Public School and Government Kanya School presented a cultural programme on this occasion.
