PCTE establishes innovation council to foster start-ups
Ludhiana, November 15
To foster culture of innovation, Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE) has established an Institutional Innovative Council (IIC) to undertake various activities prescribed by the Innovation Cell, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to promote innovation and start-ups on the campus.
With the help of the MHRD, PCTE will focus on creating an ecosystem which will foster a culture of innovation from ideas generation to pre-incubation, incubation and graduating from the incubator as successful start-ups.
Naresh Sachdeva, professor at the institute, said: “With the establishment of the Institutional Innovative Council, students will be encouraged to explore their creative energy and to work on new ideas, innovation and promote them to create start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures.”
Gautum Bansal, director, PCTE Group of Institutes, said PCTE had always provided its students hands-on experiences, so that they could stand out from the crowd. PCTE is the only college under PTU to take this certification from the MHRD, he added.
K N S Kang, director general, PCTE Group of Institutes, said in order to create a start-up, students needed to be creative and think out-of-the-box. With the establishment of IIC, PCTE would give students various opportunities to explore and implement their creative ideas and would also provide direction to their passion. —TNS
