Poetry competition held

Ludhiana: English poetry recitation competition was held at Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School. Students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the event. Tiny tots of kindergarten wing recited poems on topics, including “Save girl child”, time, nature, greetings, love for animals etc. Students used beautiful props to bring out the significance of poems recited by them.

Girls shine in table tennis 

Under-14 girls of Green Land Convent School, Sector-32, Chandigarh Road, won district level table tennis tournament held at the Guru Nanak stadium. Rytham Tyagi, Ashiyan Puri, Sunaina Kumari and Sanya Garcha stood first in the championship.

Air Force Day celebrated

Air Force Day was celebrated along with no. 4 Punjab Air Squadron at Malwa Khalsa School Model Gram. The NCC cadets presented a cultural programme and watched a movie related to the legendary “Paramvir Chakra” winner flying officer Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon. Principal Karanjit Singh lauded the Indian Air Force’s courage and valour. He briefed cadets about the works of IAF.

Run for health

Fourty-five students of SNAS Arya Senior Secondary School, Mandi Gobindgarh, participated in “Run for health, happiness and unity, a 5-km marathon, held at the Principal Naresh Chander stadium, Khanna. The marathon started from stadium up to Rasulra village and ended at the stadium.

Athletics meet held

Police DAV Public School, Police Line, Civil Lines, hosted a two-day DAV National Sports athletics meet. Sukhchain Singh Gill, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, was the guest of honour. He declared the sports meet open which was followed by sports flame lighting, oath taking ceremony by participating athletes from different DAV schools of Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Jammu zone. Students participated in events, including 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m and invitational relays (2x400 m), shot put, discuss throw, long jump and high jump.

National Postal Day observed

Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, observed “National Postal Day” to create awareness among students about the importance of postal services. Students posted postcards and inland letters to their kins to generate a broader awareness about postal services. Students were excited and thrilled as this activity helped them to express their thoughts and feelings.

Swimming trials organised

Budding Brains International School, Raikot, held district level swimming trials. Participants came from different schools and exhibited their skills. Principal Mandeep Kaur congratulated and wished good luck to the participants. 

6-yr-old reality star welcomed 

Six-year-old Inayat Verma, who became the youngest finalist on the reality show “India’s best dramebaaz” was welcomed at Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Civil Lines, on Wednesday. Principal Navita Puri presented a bouquet to Inayat. More than 5,000 schoolmates cheered Inayat all the way back to her class.  — TNS
