Bhaini Sahib, January 22
Namdhari sect founder Satguru Ram Singh Ji had not only contributed to the country’s freedom struggle, but also played an important role in eradicating the social evils.
This was stated by Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayats, while addressing a gathering during a function at Bhaini Sahib, organised under present Namdhari sect Chief Uday Singh, to mark the 203rd birth anniversary of Satguru Ram Singh Ji here today.
He said the sacrifices made by Kuka martyrs, under the leadership of Satguru Ram Singh Ji, would remain an inspiration. Following the path of non-violence, Satguru Ram Singh Ji boycotted the facilities and goods offered by the British Government, said Bajwa. He said the real tribute would be to follow the path shown by him and appealed to the people to emulate his basic ideology to bring transformation in the society.
Keeping in view the religious feeling of those attached to the Namdhari sect, Bajwa said the state government would soon make the arrangements for potable canal water and the work of new hockey Astroturf will start ?before March 31.
Bajwa said local MLAs and Congress leaders would be consulted before the distribution of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Election tickets.
On the occasion, sect head Satguru Uday Singh honoured the minister by presenting a siropa and asked the gathering to follow the ideals and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Satguru Ram Singh Ji.
Legislators Amrik Singh Dhillon, Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon along with Namdhari Surinder Singh, Krishan Kumar Bawa, and several other personalities were present.
