Commuters said a wire with naked joint was lying on Lakkar Bridge near Bhadaur House. Another naked joint was touching an iron pipe installed on safety wall of the bridge opposite Bhadaur House.

After getting information, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited employees reached the spot. However, they discovered that the wires were connected with the MC’s streetlights and informed the department concerned.

A PSPCL official said, “Naked joints are of streetlights and they are maintained by the Municipal Corporation. Officials concerned have been intimated about the same.”

Veerpal Singh, a commuter said, “Wires have been joined in a poor manner and safety of people is never on mind of authorities. Naked joints can lead to a big tragedy. The department concerned must ensure proper installation of live wires.”

Executive Engineer of the MC’s Lights Wing, Balwinder Singh, could not be contacted for his comments.
