PU principals seek regular grants, pay protection

The Panjab University Principals’ Association (PUPA), through its office-bearers, met three DDPIs Jagdeep, GS Brar and Lakhwinder Singh Gill, higher authorities of DPI Colleges, Punjab.

The association submitted its memorandum regarding the long pending demands of the colleges. The DPI office informed the association that the notification regarding the regularisation of the 127 assistant professors, under grant in aid scheme, was on the cards and would be released shortly.

The association requested the DPI to allow colleges to fill the vacant posts covered under the 1,925 posts that have fallen vacant due to some reason or the other. The DPI (C) authorities assured that the problems the colleges would be sorted.

Regarding the regularisation of grants, the DPI Office requested the colleges to send the utilisation certificates of the grant-in-aid to the DPI office soon after the disbursement so that a speedy mechanism could be brought in place for regularisation of college grants. The DPI office was committed to help the colleges in every possible manner and the colleges were also requested to support the office, said Gill.

The matter of the pay protection of college principals was also discussed and it was assured that a notification was going to be released soon. The office-bearers, RS Jhanji, principal of AS College, Khanna; Savita Uppal, principal of Arya College, Ludhiana; Tarlok Bandhu and Kuldip Singh represented the association.

The PUPA has requested all principals of affiliated colleges to come up with their issues pertaining to any matter, be it CAS or pay protection, or issues pertaining to smooth administration of the college. “The association is committed to sort the problems our community is facing from any front. Suggestions are invited from all members. The suggestions may please be mailed on the official e-mail address of the association,” said Dinesh Sharma, general secretary, PUPA.
