Punjab U-17 basketball tourney from May 17

The Punjab (Under 17) Basketball Championship for Boys and Girls will be held at Fatehgarh Sahib from May 17 to 20.
While giving information, Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, said, “Players born on or after January 1, 2001, are eligible to participate in this championship. Players have been asked to bring their date of birth certificates in original for age verification.”
He said, “Performance in this championship will be taken into consideration while selecting probables for Punjab for the 34th edition of the Youth National Basketball Championship to be organised by the Telangana Basketball Association under the aegis of Basketball Federation of India from July 1 to 8 in Hyderabad.”
“These probables will undergo training at a camp prior to the final selection of the Punjab contingents,” added Dhaliwal.
Basketball trials on Sunday
Ludhiana: The Ludhiana District Basketball Association will hold trials to select the Ludhiana boys and girls teams at Guru Nanak Stadium on May 14 from 4 pm onwards.
Players born on or after January 1, 2001, can attend these trials. They have been advised to bring their date of birth certificates in original and submit the same at the time of registration for trials.
“Selected boys and girls will represent the Ludhiana district in the Youth Punjab Basketball Tournament slated to be held at Fatehgarh Sahib from May 17 to 20,” said Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary of the local unit of the Punjab Basketball Association.
