Ludhiana, May 7
Prof Ravinder Bhathal, newly elected president of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi (PSA), assumed office at the Punjabi Bhawan, here on Monday.
Other office-bearers, including senior vice-president Surinder Kailey and general secretary Surjit Singh, also assumed office.
Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu; Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu; MLA Kuldip Singh Vaid; Punjab Arts Council Chairman Dr Surjit Patar; former Punjabi Sahit Akademi president Gurbhajan Gill; eminent photo artist Tej Partap Singh Sandhu; Canada-based NRI and Punjab Bhawan Surrey founder Sukhi Bath; and former Additional Advocate General Punjab Harpreet Singh Sandhu came to wish the new team good luck.
Prof Ravinder Bhathal assured everyone that he would continue to work hard for the promotion of the Punjabi language and culture. Bittu and Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu assured the office-bearers of all possible support from the government. Later, a function in the memory of legendary Punjabi Poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi was also organised, in association with Ishmeet Singh Music Institute.
