Punjabi writers from abroad to promote Maa Boli

To encourage Punjabi literature, language and culture, a two-day international conference will be organised at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College on January 16 and January 17. Over two dozen Punjabi writers from foreign shores are likely to take part in the conference.

The international conference will be inaugurated by Padamshri Dr Dilip Kaur Tiwana and the inaugural session will be presided by Navjot Singh Sidhu, Cabinet Minister Tourism, Cultural Affairs and Museums of the state of Punjab. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Syndicate Member, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, will also be part of the occasion.

President Gursharan Singh Narula and Dr SP Singh, former VC, GNDU, Amritsar, will make their presence felt on both the days of this conference.

“After the inaugural session, the first technical session will commence which will witness the paper presentation analysis and discussion on the main theme of conference by the renowned dignitaries, delegates and research scholars. There will be more technical sessions on January 17 in Hindi and English and the main theme of these will Diasporic Punjabi Literature”said Dr SP Singh.

Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill, former president, Punjabi Sahit Academy, Ludhiana, emphasised that main motive was to serve Punjab, Punjabi and ‘Punjabiyat’ selflessly and provide it the international platform.

College principal Arvinder Singh said such events nourish, encourage and support the new perspective and thoughts of the young generations. “The main motive of this two-day international conference is to provide a common platform to the Indian and Punjabi writers. It will also offer an opportunity to share and discuss the achievements, failures and role of new and evolving theories and the perspectives” he added.
