Ludhiana, July 13
An awareness programme on ‘electro magnetic field (EMF) radiation and mobile towers’ was organised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, here on Friday.
The session was a part of the nationwide public outreach campaign by the DoT.
SK Chopra, Director, Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM), Punjab, thanked the participants for attending the event.
RP Singhal, Deputy Director General, Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM), Punjab, elaborated on the role of the DoT and the mechanism to ensure the EMF compliance in the city. Singhal highlighted the steps taken by the Centre and the DoT to make sure that telecommunications service providers strictly adhere to the prescribed norms.
Jaskiran Singh, Commissioner, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation; Iqbal Singh Sandhu, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana; and TK Joshi, Advisor to Health Ministry, and Director, Environment & Medicine Programme, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, were among the speakers.
Ashwani Kapur, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, was the guest of honour. Jaskiran Singh said the collective efforts of all regulatory, public and private bodies were required for the overall development of telecommunications in the state.
